STUDER A807 - full case and studio cart re-veneering

The order was for a complete change of finish on all elements of the casing of the STUDER A807 reel-to-reel tape recorder and additional elements of its studio cart.

The original case, consisting of several screw-fastened parts, was a combination  of parts made of various wood-based materials (MDF, chip-board and fragments of solid walnut) covered in three different ways: with a wood-pattern laminate, a classic natural veneer, and a thick wood veneer. Each had a different structure, color, and texture.

The aim of the work was to remove all old coatings, repair any defects resulting from mechanical damage, and apply new veneer and varnish to ensure a uniform, cohesive appearance.

The aforementioned work didn't pose any particular challenges, aside from some minor veneering of the "armrests," which radius at the front was so small that gluing the relatively stiff veneer posed little difficulty.

The new, amber-colored amaratno veneer, after being fully sanded, received four layers of a chemically cured, satin polyacrylic varnish.

The photos below show the BEFORE and AFTER results.
