FOR PIONEER CS-901A
Bases made to special order for the set of classic PIONEER CS-901A floorstanders. The original Japanese-made speakers from 1973 required appropriate stands that would not only blend in with the cabinets, but also cause a slight inclination towards the rear wall, thus lifting the speaker axis higher towards the listener.
The bases are made of solid American walnut. Each of them consists of four parts, two pairs of identical elements, connected with the grooves. All edges were milled with a 45-degree angular cutter to soften the edges, and the corners were cut for aesthetics. Once assembled, the bases gave the columns about 10 degrees of intended tilt.
As a finish, the wood received a coating of natural Chinese tung nut oil, which perfectly highlighted the grain pattern and color, and gave the surface a delicate, satin texture.
